How do I add an exercise while I’m in the middle of a workout?
At any time during a workout, you can press the down arrow at the top of the set screen and then tap “Add Exercise.” You can then alter the exercise order by tapping “Edit” and dragging the exercise up or down. You can also add additional exercises and change the number of sets for any exercise.
Can I re-order the exercises or replace an exercise in the app after I’ve started a workout?
Yes. At any time during a workout, you can press the down arrow at the top of the set screen and then tap “Edit” in the upper left of the workout overview screen. You can then alter the exercise order, add new exercises, and change the number of sets for any exercise.
How can I remove a plate/weight from the bar in the app??
Double tap on the type of plate you’d like to remove from the barbell. For example, if you want to remove 50 pounds from the bar, double tap the 25-pound plate.
How do I add a plate to the barbell?
Tap once on the type of plate you’d like to add to each side of the bar.
How do I move to the next set?
After your set, use the + and - buttons to log how many reps you performed. Then tap the Rest Timer directly below. When the timer ends (or if you press “Stop”), the app will take you to the next set. You can also go to the next set manually by pressing the right arrow next to the Rest Timer (or go to the previous set with the left arrow).
Can I change the unit system from pounds to kilograms and vice versa?
You can! On the main home page of the app, tap “More” and then “Measurements” for complete control of your units. :)
Can I change the weight of the bar in the app?
Yep! Tap the weight listed under the bar and you’ll be able to manually enter any value you desire.
Is Stacked coming to Android?
Yes. We’re beginning Android development this year.
I updated my app and now my stored workouts are gone. How can I get them back?

Are there plans to connect data from Stacked to other apps like Apple Health?

How can I see how many reps I did in my previous workout?
If you’re in a workout, scroll down to view “Last Workout” and your personal records under any exercise to see how you’ve done in the past. If you’re not in a workout, you can go to the “Log” section and see how you did in any of your finished workouts. If you want to see your progress on a specific exercise, go to “Log,” then “Workout Progress” at the top, then “Add a Widget” and select the exercise you’d like to track.
How many reps should I do for the exercise listed in the workout I’m doing?
Stacked doesn’t prescribe a certain number of reps per exercise. Stacked is a workout app designed to help you track your reps and weight, but it doesn’t tell you how many reps to do or how much weight to use. How many reps you should do depends on the routine you’re following and how much weight you should lift depends on your strength and the exact program you’re following. If you want a strength training program to follow or would like to learn how to make one yourself, read these articles:
Hit the + button on the app’s home screen, then tap “Routines.” Any Active Routine can be deactivated by tapping it and selecting “Deactivate.” Likewise, any Inactive Routine can be activated in the same way.
How can I create my own routine?
If you’re on the Routines page, you can create your own routine by tapping “Add New” in the upper right-hand corner.
How can I add an exercise to the app?
Hit the + button, then tap “Exercises.” From there, tap “Create New Exercise.” When you’re done, tap “Save.”
How do I create a workout?
Hit the + button, then tap “Do Workout.” From there, tap “Add New.” When you’re done, tap “Save.”
What’s the difference between “BLS Phase 1, x-Day Split” and “BLS x-day Split”?
These are slightly different routines based on different editions of my book Bigger Leaner Stronger. “BLS Phase 1 5-Day Split,” for example, is based on the third edition of BLS, whereas “BLS 5-Day Split” is the routine from the second edition of the book. You can follow either one, but the routine from the third edition is the most recent version.
Oh and in case you’re confused by some of the workout names, “P1” stands for “Phase 1.”
Where can I find Phase 2 and subsequent phases?
We will add more phases and routines in the future! In the meantime, you can create your own workouts and routines, so you can easily re-create the second phase, which you can find in the bonus material that came with your copy of Bigger Leaner Stronger or Thinner Leaner Stronger, or in The Year One Challenge.
How can I adjust the rest time between sets?
Tap “More” then “Rest Timer,” then change the global timer to any duration you choose. When you tap “Rest Timer” after a set, you can also add or subtract time in 30-second increments.
Are dumbbells tracked as the total weight lifted or the weight of each dumbbell?
By default, Stacked goes by the weight of each individual dumbbell. You can change this by going to “More” on the home screen, selecting “Additional Options,” and then switching on “Record Total Dumbbell Weight.”
