What has happened so far on the program?

At 41 years old, I thought six pack abs were beyond me. On the BLS (Bigger Leaner Stronger) program I have managed consistent week by week fat loss of 0.5kg (1lbs) a week with minimal muscle loss. I have gone from 84kg (185lbs) @ 21% bodyfat to 75kg (165lbs) @ 13.7% bodyfat in 5 months. My waist has gone from 92.5cm to 82.5cm – a 10cm (4 inches) loss!! I have seen all of my abs for the first time since I was in my early 20’s!! Solid strength gains and improvements in big lifts along the way also. So many people have commented on my physical changes all the way through the program. From a health perspective, I have never felt this alive. I have more energy and can think more clearly – it feels like my brain is supercharged!!

What do you like most about the program?

The program is written for natural lifters and it’s so easy to follow. The personal attention and advice is simply amazing.

What, if anything, almost kept you from buying the book or starting the program?

Nothing, but I wish I had known about the book sooner!! There so much BS advice out there from men’s magazines, internet forums, etc. As a natural lifter, it’s hard to know what to rely on. BLS was exactly the book I was looking for.

What are three other benefits of the program?

1. For me the biggest thing was what it has encouraged me do to with my diet. Before BLS, I had what I thought was a good diet. BLS has enabled me to make it more consistent and controlled. In addition to spending more time planning and preparing food, I have also cut out all of the sugar and processed food from my diet. Aside from the weight loss and muscle gain benefits, I am now thinking more clearly, have more energy, I am never sick and I am enjoying life a lot more. Sounds silly but the difference is life changing.

2. Before BLS my training program was all over the place. Too many exercises, too many reps. The simplicity of the the BLS “lift heavy” mantra has had a dramatic change on my progress. It also enabled me to take a back step and fix up some form faults which were giving me niggling injuries. Since adopting the BLS training program, I have been training injury free for 5 months – in fact I have not missed a session in 5 months which is something I have not achieved before.

3. The concept of using a log book. While I used to log my sessions before BLS, I now include a lot more detail on diet, supplements, sleep, etc. which helps me understand what works and what doesn’t. I’ve been doing this since I started BLS 5 months ago and it is incredible how useful this information is to reflect on, especially when trying to find the right calorie intake for consistent weight loss and/or gain.

Would you recommend this program? If so, why?

Absolutely. I have already referred a number of friends and family to the BLS and TLS books (including my wife), all of them are currently seeing amazing consistent results.

I am forever grateful to Mike, not only for writing this book, but for the many articles on the MFL website as well as the personal attention I have been given which has been invaluable to my journey. Bring on “Beyond Bigger leaner Stronger” !!
