What has happened so far on the program?

I’ve been focusing on cutting for my first three months and have gone from 185 pounds to 173 at my lowest and from 20-22% bf to 14-16%. I’ve gained muscle, gone down a few notches on my belt and also feel generally more energetic and awake all day. I also started because I’d sustained an ACL injury earlier in the year and wanted to become stronger to prepare for surgery. Since lifting regularly, I barely notice the injury’s existence, where I used to wake up with it aching, etc.

What do you like most about the program?

I like that nearly everything is backed in clinical research, that it’s presented in a very understandable way, building upon concepts to then structured workout and nutrition plans. I found that the “year one challenge” has been great to help me finally feel like I have a structured, balanced workout so I never feel lost or aimless in the gym.

What, if anything, almost kept you from buying the book or starting the program?

Just the number of fitness books out there, all preaching a different idiosyncratic method that happened to work for one person or giving back the same very generic info. Also the time investment and negative past associations with feeling unfocused, unproductive and bored in the gym. I’ve had much more success with structured activities like sports and martial arts.

What are three other benefits of the program?

Feeling energetic, looking leaner and more muscular, and almost completely removing cravings for sugar, which was something I used to struggle with constantly.

Would you recommend this program? If so, why?

I would, as an efficient way to be fit, but done in a way that’s supported by general concepts out of health, and very few “extreme” concepts, aside from just putting in the time in the gym! Mike has also been awesome with answering questions and really guiding me to make personal applications to of the program to my own needs, which I totally wasn’t expecting. Way worth the price of a book or two.
