What has happened so far on the program?

I bulked for one year starting at 166 lbs, with a 3 month cut at the end to get to 185 lbs.

Since being on the program I’ve gained 20 lbs of muscle and am able to stay lean while continuing to make gains at the gym. My strength has almost doubled across all muscle groups, but my biggest gains have been on legs (which I neglected for years). I’m now able to lift heavier than ever before and no longer have to worry about chicken legs haha!

What, if anything, almost kept you from buying the book or starting the program?

Nothing really kept me from buying the book. I was pretty excited after reading tons of great reviews on Amazon. Although I was an avid gym-goer for many years I wasn’t making very good progress so I was really looking to change it up and Bigger Leaner Stronger seemed like the best fit for me.

At first I thought the diet part would be tough. I’d always just eaten whatever I wanted and when I was hungry, not really paying attention to macros/nutrition. However, this all changed rather quickly and it was actually fun for me to try to hit my numbers everyday.

What do you like most about the program?

What I love most about the program are the results, plain and simple. Mike is very straightforward in his writing and addresses any doubts or internal excuses I could think of early on. I love the fact that the program is heavily based on scientific research and not anecdotal recommendations.

Probably the best part about the program is that Mike was available via email to guide me along the way whenever I had questions or just needed clarification. Can’t beat that level of service!

How does this program compare with others you’ve tried?

Before starting the BLS program I used to do 3-4 days at the gym for about 1 – 1 ½ hours. I never set any real structure or goals in my workouts. I would just go through the motions and follow the latest fitness magazine workout, changing it up every 2-3 months to “trick my muscles”. Little did I know I was doing it all wrong.

Lifting heavy, in the 4-6 rep range went against everything I learned and practiced from fitness magazine workouts for over 15 years. I was skeptical at first, but figured I’d give it a shot since the old way wasn’t working.

Within the first month on BLS I noticed a significant change and was hooked! After a few more months I was already the strongest I had ever been. I dumped my fitness magazine subscriptions a while ago and will be using the BLS program to continue my fitness journey and elevate my physique.

How has what you’ve achieved with your body changed other areas of your life?

Since being on the program I definitely have more energy throughout the day and focus on living a healthier lifestyle.

Is there anything else you’d like to add?

Find a great workout partner and help each other stick to the program. My girlfriend has been my workout partner since starting the program. We encourage and motivate each other daily to work hard and never give up. It’s been an incredible journey so far. I know we’ve still got a lot further to go together and I’m excited for what’s still to come.
