How many months’ progress do your pictures represent? What were your stats for each picture?

In three months of following Bigger Leaner Stronger I went from 185 pounds to 162 pounds.

What has happened so far on the program?

I have gone through “cutting phases” on other programs in the past but always saw a significant decrease in my lifts. However, on the Bigger Leaner Stronger program, I actually went up in my lifts while dropping a significant amount of weight.

What workout split from the book did you use?

During the program, I used a five-day split for weight training. I also incorporated a ton of cardio into the program. In the final 3 weeks I increased the cardio and started running twice a day.

What, if anything, almost kept you from buying the book or starting the program?

I think the biggest obstacle that almost kept me from purchasing this book was my own defeatist mentality. Over the years I have tried several different training programs, but I never felt like I got the results that I wanted.

These programs kept telling me “you have to eat big to get big.” In the end, I succeeded in putting on unwanted weight but failed in reaching my desired fitness goals.

But Bigger Leaner Stronger changed all that. It helped me understand one of the most difficult aspects of fitness–nutrition. Once I got a handle on the nutritional aspect of fitness, everything else fell into place.

What do you like most about the program?

The one thing that I loved about the Bigger Leaner Stronger program is that it doesn’t try to peddle some “quick fix.” Rather, it taught me the science of weight training and nutrition.

I learned about things like macronutrients, caloric deficits, and progressive overload. And the more I understood these concepts, the more empowered I felt to change.

There’s an old proverb that states, “give a man a fish and you feed him for a day; teach a man to fish and you feed him for a lifetime.” This is what the Bigger Leaner Stronger program does, it provides you with all the tools you need to change your life.

How does this program compare with others you’ve tried?

Bigger Leaner Stronger is different because, unlike those other programs, it helped me understand my own body. And once I had the information, it was just a matter of implementing it.

Because the reality is, once you’re able to understand the mechanics of something, you’re able to control it. That’s what the Bigger Leaner Stronger program gave me–knowledge. The ability to understand my own body in a way that enabled me to take control of it.

How has what you’ve achieved with your body changed other areas of your life?

One thing that changed has been my perspective on what it means to live a healthy lifestyle. Right now, I am a graduate student in Massachusetts. I am in school full time (5 classes a semester) working on two degrees and I work a full time job (35 hours a week).

Consequently, I always believed that I was too busy to really pursue my fitness goals. But the Bigger Leaner Stronger program helped me realize that a healthy lifestyle isn’t some lofty, unattainable ideal. Rather, a healthy lifestyle is a manageable reality that can be achieved by making informed, healthy decisions on a daily basis.

Who would you recommend this program to and why?

I have been recommending this program for a while. In fact, I have often talked my friends and family into purchasing the book. And for the ones I couldn’t convince I bought them a copy myself. I recommend this program to everyone because it works. Plain and simple.

Is there anything else you’d like to add?

The one thing that I would advise anyone looking to start the Bigger Leaner Stronger program is to learn the fine art of managing your expectations. The beginning stage of any program is exciting. The prospect of setting and reaching your fitness goals gives you a buzz like nothing else.

However, that emotional high won’t last. And if you’re not prepared for it, you will eventually be consumed by your own unrealistic expectations. Because a day is going to come when you will wake up one morning, look in the mirror, and think to yourself, “this isn’t working, the weight isn’t coming off,” or, “this is ridiculous, I don’t look any bigger.”

In that moment, it’s easy to feel defeated. It’s easy to give up. But it’s in that moment that you need to scream at yourself, “trust the process!” The weight is coming off. You are building muscle. Just stay the course. Follow the plan. Trust the process.

Did you use any Legion supplements?

Unfortunately, I was not able to use any Legion supplements during my cut. Being a full-time graduate student, my funds are very limited.
