How many months’ progress do your pictures represent? What were your stats for each picture?

They represent 8 months, from November 2017 to July 2018.

I weighed 132 lb at my highest in November–my body fat % was well over 30. In February (3 months) I was down to 122 lb, but I hadn’t measured my body fat % again.

In May I was down to 116 lb. In June I ended my cut and consumed calories at a maintenance/slight bulk because I wanted to focus more on strength gains than fat loss.

In the last picture, July 2018, I weighed 118 lb and was approximately 24% body fat.

What has happened so far on the program?

I cut from November to May and lost 16 lb. From May to June I ate maintenance/slight bulk calories and gained 2 lb.

When I started in November I had never lifted a barbell. By July I could deadlift 130 lb, hip thrust 200 lb, squat 85 lb, bench press 65 lb – all of these in the 5-6 rep range, not 1RM. I could shoulder press with 25 lb dumbbells (50 lb total)–still practicing my military press form.

What workout split from the book did you use?

The 4-day split.

What, if anything, almost kept you from buying the book or starting the program?

Nothing. A friend recommended it to me and I didn’t hesitate.

What do you like most about the program?

Definitely easier than I expected. I thought I would be intimidated by the gym but I felt confident performing the exercises after reading Thinner Leaner Stronger.

Even following the “diet” was easier than I thought it would be because no food was off limits, I just had to learn to account for it. I was very pleasantly surprised with how quickly I saw results.

What I love most about this book is the confidence it has given me–in the gym and with eating. I feel stronger and happier than ever and I only set out to lose weight initially.

How does this program compare with others you’ve tried?

The workouts made it easy to follow because there was a set plan with great explanations and that made me feel more comfortable in the gym.

The diet and all of the information around nutrition just seemed to “click” for me. The book debunked everything I ever thought I knew about diet and exercise with perfect clarity and had the science to back it up.

How has what you’ve achieved with your body changed other areas of your life?

Overall I am more productive and active day-to-day and I have more energy throughout the day. A body in motion stays in motion. I feel more comfortable and confident.

I enjoy going out with my family and not being hard on myself and feeling guilty for enjoying a meal out.
