P.S. Many people have been asking how 2.0 compares to 1.0. What’s new? And how new is “new”?

Good question!

The simple answer is this: 2.0 is different than 1.0 in just about every meaningful way. You can think of it as a brand new book, really.

I released the first edition six years ago and began keeping a list of reader suggestions and questions as well as my own list of things to add, change, and remove based on my ongoing research and experience in my own training as well as working with experienced weightlifters.

The points ranged from minor stuff like typos and awkward phrasings to major revisions like new dietary protocols, training programming, inner game tips, and more. A lot more.

So much, in fact, that this second edition is reorganized and rewritten from scratch, and I’m absolutely tickled with the result.

Here are some of the highlights:

  • The “inner game” section better addresses the unique challenges of the intermediate and advanced weightlifter, including establishing the right habits, enhancing consistency, and managing expectations.
  • The diet section contains a bonanza of new material, including updated methods for mini-cuts, intermittent fasting, and calorie cycling; my favorite “functional foods” for boosting health and wellness; and the four types of supplements experienced lifters should consider taking in addition to the basics.
  • The training program has been overhauled from stem to stern and provides powerful and easy-to-implement (a key point!) workout routines based on the latest research on how to gain muscle and strength as effectively as possible.
  • I’m a much better writer now than I was six years ago, so everything is easier to follow, understand, and apply.
